Ancient Voices Concert

Where: Edmonton's downtown McDougall United Church
Why: This fund raiser will generate monies to cover the costs of an international conference, this conference is occurring in Tunisia to celebrate "The science, art, and gender in the global rise of indigenous languages" (the actual conference title) for example, Egypt's indigenous languages of Coptic, Berber, and Nubian, to the region's Kurdish and Juhuro languages (Juhuro is the Jewish mountain indigenous language of northeastern Azerbaijan), and to many of the rest of the world's endangered voices.
Organized and co-sponsored by: universities, social & corporate organizations, and individuals (include in writing U of A St. Stephen's College, University de Haute-Alsace, France, U of Jendouba, Tunisia, The Coptic Heritage Society of Alberta, the Turkish Canadian Society of Alberta, Indigenous Media Institute of Canada, several aspects of the United Church, with more Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, and other faith groups coming on-line, as well as individuals, cultural, national, educational, and corporate organizations).
